5 Mindful and Intentional Living Podcasts You Need to Know About

I. Love. Podcasts.

Seriously, I love them. They have quickly replaced any radio show or music I listen to when driving. It doesn’t matter if I’m driving for 10 minutes or an hour, I load up one of my favorite podcasts and hit the road.

I know I’m not alone. Research shows that over 60 million households have at least one podcast fan. That’s a lot of people! These days, podcasts can be listened to not only on iTunes, but also on Android apps such as Stitcher, AND also via the web (many on the podcast website itself).

One thing I struggle with is knowing which podcasts to start listening to. There are so many out there that sometimes it can be overwhelming and the topics they cover are staggering! I personally love getting podcast recommendations, especially in areas that I’m passionate about (ahem, reducing mental clutter though mindful and intentional living, minimalism, and zero waste living!). If you find yourself in the same boat, I’m sharing 5 of my FAVORITE podcasts that cover all those topics and more. I know this list is not in any way exhaustive, so if I missed one of your favorites, please let me know in the comments!

Let’s get started!

My 5 Mindful and Intentional Living Podcast Recommendations:

The Lively Show with Jess Lively

This is the episode that really got me started on defining what intentional living means to me. Jess talks a LOT about living with intention, living according to our values, living with ‘flow’, and living with purpose. And not only does she talk about it, she has amazing guests on that talk about it, AND, she lives it and shares it. She also talks a lot about the ego and our intuition, and how we can learn to recognize when the ego is spouting things at us versus when our intuition is speaking to us. I have learned so dang much from this podcast, and I seriously recommend to anyone who is interested in learning more about the things I mentioned above. In later episodes (or more recent episodes), she talks quite a bit about law of attraction, so if that is something you are interested in, be sure to check those out. The show naturally progresses as Jess moves through her own life’s journey, and while that may turn some people off, I personally loved it. There is so much content and so many different types of episodes that it has been really fun going through them all.

My Favorite Episodes:

-Any of her Q&A Episodes

-Increasing our Joy with Rachel Macdonald

- #48 Approaching Holidays Intentionally with Courtney Carver

-#52 How to Hear from your Intuition Today

-#127 How to Experience More Position Emotions Every day with Brooke Castillo

The Daily Boost

The Daily Boost covers all types of topics within the realm of mindfulness and intentional living. The episodes always leave me with something to take away and noodle on. The things I love the MOST about the podcast is that they are short - like, less than 15 minutes long. They are perfect for when you need a quick dose of inspiration. Scott Smith is the host and has been doing The Daily Boost for a LONG TIME. Seriously, I heard on a recent episode that he has done 900-something episodes! I have been listening to this podcast on and off for 7-8 years, and it is one I continue to enjoy.

My Favorite Episodes:

-Too many to name as there are so many good ones!

The Sustainable Minimalists

The Sustainable Minimalists is hosted by Stephanie Seferian of the blog Mama Minimalist. The podcast aims to help families live sustainably, but the thing I love about it is the tips can be applicable to anyone! Stephanie talks about all sorts of topics such as low/zero waste,  minimalism, decluttering, and includes tons of DIY tips relating to those categories. Her topics fit in great with the overall theme of this blog, which is all about reducing so you can gain more. With each episode, she gives tons of resources and freebies to her listeners. Stephanie has a great mix of guest shows and solo ones. If you’re interested in getting started in any of the areas mentioned above or get some in-depth tips, this is a great podcast for you.

My Favorite Episodes:

-Any of the decluttering episodes

-#23 Minimalism and the Mental Load

-#26 The Inconvenient Relationship Between Clutter and Anxiety

-#28 The Low-Waste Parenting Rulebook

- I am totally biased on this one, but check out my FAVORITE episode - #20 for an interview with yours truly - all about zero waste.

Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations

This is a newish podcast for me, but as soon as I listened to the first episode, I was instantly hooked. I admit, this podcast focuses a lot more on the spiritual side of mindfulness and intentional living than the other ones do, but if that sounds like something you’re interested in, you HAVE to listen to this podcast. I have had so many ah-ha moments as I have gone through the episodes. I kind of feel like I don’t even really need to go into a lot of detail because,  well, it’s Oprah. Is there anything she touches that isn’t amazing? Oprah has on top-notch guests (of course) and really gets into detail about each guest’s spiritual journey, what that looks like for them, and how it has helped them in their life. I’m absolutely loving this podcast (in case you couldn’t already tell) and couldn’t recommend it more.

My Favorite Episodes:

-Brene’ Brown Part 1 & 2

-Sheryl Sandberg: How to Build Resilience and Find Joy After Loss

-Arianna Huffington: What Will Be Your Spiritual Wake-up Call?

-Deepak Chopra: Meditation 101

-Indie.Arie Part 1 & 2

-Mitch Albom: The Dying Know the Secrets to a Good Life

And so on….

Pursuit with Purpose

Melyssa Griffin is a million-dollar marketing entrepreneur. She found herself at the top of her game and making six-figures, yet she was really unhappy. Her podcast aims to revisit what ‘success’ looks like, how we can use that to make a difference in the world, and how we can implement purpose into our own lives and businesses.

My favorite episodes:

-How to Use Meditation to feel Like a Less Stressed, Happier Version of Yourself

-How to Access Your Body’s Inner Wisdom, With Geneen Roth

Thanks, I’m looking forward to listening into some of these. Most of the podcasts I currently listen to are personal-finance-related, so this will be a welcome change/addition. It really does help to have recommendations, since there are so many options out there.

Such a great list! The Lively Show was the first podcast I ever subscribed to, so it’s one of my personal favs – I’m sad she’s taking a break from it. I recommend Let it Out with Katie Dalebout – Jess was on a recent episode, actually – it’s long, but the conversations are really amazing.
