45+ Decluttering Resources for Getting Rid of Physical, Mental, and Other Types of Clutter!

When the urge to declutter hits, it is hard to ignore that motivational pull.

For me, it usually comes during the transitional seasons (fall and spring), or when my anxiety is amped up and I need to fee a sense of control. Thanks, anxiety.

Whatever the reasons, I get the urge, nay, craving, to declutter (even more so than usual – yes, I love it that much – hence why my family and I have gotten rid of over 150 large boxes of stuff and sold countless more).

Can you relate?

Spring is a time generally reserved for deep cleaning. I personally think it has to do with us wanting to shed the weight of winter and mimic the growth and renewal we are witness to in nature. But decluttering can happen any time of the year!

If you’re one of those people who are itching to start (or continue) decluttering, I’ve got some amazing resources for you!

Check out the list below for tips and guides on how to declutter physical clutter, mental clutter, and other types of clutter! Additionally, I threw in a couple of resources on minimalist and clutter-free gift giving – because once you’ve gotten rid of stuff, you want to make sure it doesn’t come back in.

One final note: I would HIGHLY recommend checking out my guide:

The Eco-Friendly Magic of Tidying Up for resources on how to properly dispose of items. This post is so important to me that I’ll mention it again below.

A major misconception I had when I first started decluttering was that any item I donated to Goodwill or other second-hand shops would automatically get put out on the shelves and be sold.

After I started researching for the above post, I realize how incredibly wrong I was. I quickly learned that it was my responsibility to find the proper means of disposing items so they wouldn’t end up in the landfill or become someone else’s problem. Yes, it may take a small amount of extra time, but you know what?

It’s also an incredible motivator for not allowing clutter back into my house.

The post above is the ultimate guide for donating, properly recycling/disposing, or getting an item to someone or somewhere that it will actually be used – and that includes hard items such as bridesmaid dresses, shoes, electronics, and more.

Check it out before you start (or continue) decluttering!
